When I was a youngster, my mum used to take us out and get angry if we weren't grateful, even though we generally went somewhere about as exciting as school and not even as far away. We honestly would've had more fun walking to the bus only to miss it.

Nowadays I can understand why. Who wants to spend hours getting sweaty in a car with noisy kids, only to get somewhere, get just as stressed by the same kids, probably lose one, make one cry by losing your temper and shouting at them, all before you've even left the car park.

Thankfully, single parent days out are not the nightmare I once thought them to be anymore. It's all down to single Parent Fun, a great online community for single parents. As well as facilitating communication between thousands of single parents, they arrange supervised single parent days out to unburden single parents and make sure it's not just the kids that are having fun!
